Due to the ice storm and massive electric outages in Oklahoma starting 12/10/07 The Power Hood Shop at Chelsea OK has been without power for about a week. We will still honer the free shipping for orders before Jan. 1/08 but we are behind and will ship as soon as possible.

The whole town of Chelsea was shut down no power, water, gasoline, groceries and the banks were closed.

Prices will stay the same for a short time but will have to be raised due to increase in steel prices and increased shipping costs for steel and other components. The price for the Power Hood in powder coat is $897. 00

Hood Opener for the Kodiak 5500

___________________________________________________________________

Last spring I was contacted by a free lance truck accessory rep. in Iowa about making a shorter version of the Peterson Power Hood for the Kodiak 550 Chev. And GMC.

Ed Peterson and I talked it over and started looking for a truck as a model without any luck. I called the rep. back and told him we were unable to find a truck. About a week later the Rep. called me and said he had a truck for us in Tulsa; all we had to do wad go get it at Speedway Chevrolet which was only 45 Mi away. To our surprise the truck was a New 2007 with 12 miles on it. Speedway let us have it for 3 weeks which was all we needed to develop the shorter hood lift. The standard Power Hood for the Big Rig Trucks is about 34” in the closed position and 90” open. The new Power Hood II for the Kodiak is 16”. But has the same ratio and motor as for the semi truck; it opens to 41”.

Ed worked on making a shorter unit while I worked on the upper and lower mounting brackets, which was no easy chore. The space we had to work with was very crowded. There was a lot of trial and error in the process.

One of our problems was that the hood had a tendency to rack slightly, because we were lifting from one side. This was overcome with a rubber wheel mounted on the opposite side that engages the side of the hood and aligns it for closing.

We believe this unit could be adapted to other makes of small to medium size trucks and even cars.

Both the Peterson Power Hood and the Power Hood II are manufactured by precession cnc machining, automatic mig welding and finished with a powder coat process; hard chrome plate by special order.

The rep has yet to give us a purchase order; Speedway Chevrolet said they were going to order 20 for school buses but we are still waiting.

This unit would be ideal for the RV’s that are built on the Kodiak chasse. Also all of you custom car guy’s and gals, you could have a “Trick Truck” or car this unit could be adapted for show car hoods and trunks. It has the same power as the semi truck accessory in a shorter package 16” closed and 41” open; 12 volt DC motor. Just flip a switch to open or close.

Investors I can send you a CD Video. talltreetrader@gmail.com

Mr. Ed Peterson, because of health is open to offers for Peterson Power Hood and the Power Hood II as a package. This is a family business and the website and 2 domain names go with the business http://power-hood.net/ and http://power-hood.com/ This business can be operated in a small shop or double garage. Also Mr. Peterson has a mobility scooter lift with 8 years left on the patent that could be added to this package or sold alone. This item has made over 290K a year profit. A customer list will be provided to the purchaser.

RE: LA Times and "Cow Gas"

The LA Times wants to cut back on cattle (red meat) because they add too much gas to the atmosphere thus causing “Global Warming”.

Let this blogger tell you something: without cows, no beef, no beef = no red meat, no red meat = no chicken fried steaks, no chicken fried steaks = no truck drivers, no truck drivers = no economy, no economy = no goods and services, no goods and services = 3rd world country!

RE: LA Times on Cow Gas, I would like to quote from a wise old school teacher in Oklahoma & the wife of a Doctor.
"The problem with the world today is too many people are suffering with a mental disease that is caused by the lack of oxygen to the brain. The best way to get more O to the brain is by a balanced diet with the right amount of absorb-able iron. Iron is very hard for the body to absorb unless it is in a natural organic form. Red Meat is the best source for absorb-able Iron. The deficiency of this important mineral prevents the brain from thinking clearly because of oxygen starvation and causes people to have mental derangement and engage in foolish activity like buying carbon credits, uttering the global warming mantra, becoming vegans, joining PETA and other insane activity."

I love CO2 it makes grass grow, cows eat grass, cows grow fat and give milk, I eat cows and drink milk.

Check out the Centerline Blog at http://power-hood.blogspot and read the article about the British truck driver VS Al Gore, he sued to keep Al's tripe out of England's Schools.

Trucker VS Al Gore

Now that Al has officially received the nobel (does not deserve capitalization any more) prize, I borrowed today's blog from the net; thought this to be important, timely and it involves a truck driver.

British Trucker VS Al Gore’s Film, An Inconvenient Truth.

Stewart Dimmock sued to keep this garbage out of England's schools; the following report is from the Power Line Forum and The New Party Web Site http://newparty.co.uk

After reading this all the way through you can go to http://www.plnewsforum.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/24646/#When:23:13:56Z to read the countless number of comments; so far the only one that favored Gore was by Barbra Boxer.

This article was first produced following an interim judgement of the High Court, since which time the full judgement has been given. In his full judgement the Judge listed nine inaccuracies rather than the 11 from the interim judgement - two appear to have been grouped together and another omitted. In the interests of clarity we have accordingly revised the details below.

The decision by the government to distribute Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock. The Court found that the film was misleading in nine respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education Secretary’s advisors served only to exacerbate the political propaganda in the film.

In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Nine inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

Stewart Dimmock sued to keep this garbage out of Englands schools; the following report is from the Power Line Forum.

The decision by the government to distribute Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock.

Although a full ruling has yet to be given, the Court found that the film was misleading in 11 respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education Secretary’s advisor's served only to exacerbate the political propaganda in the film.

In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that ...

1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.

2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

The inaccuracies are:

The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.

The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.

The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Peterson Power Hood http://www.power-hood.com does not support Gore’s JUNK SCIENCE.

We are however concerned about acid rain, which seems to be swept under the rug since all of the attention that is garnered by Al’s Tripe.

Regards from Power Hood's Centerline till next time,

Vintage Car Rally Association

Saturday Oct. 6 the Vintage Car Rally Association met at Afton Station on "Old Route 66" in Afton Ok.
The Afton Station is a private museum located on the original Mother Road (open by appointment only.)
Owner David Kane a Packard collector hosted the gathering, cars and drivers from all over the USA. Some of the cars were featured in the Great Race and Mike Wallas's Film on the Mother Road made especially for PBS; and David's cars were displayed in several scenes on sections of the original road near Afton and Miami, OK.
This Blogger took a few pictures and will download them to a page in my real estate site;
http://talltreerealty.com on the Oklahoma Centennial Gallery Page and will add them to the Trick Truck Gallery.
I'm sorry that I did not have time to interview the owners and get make and model, especially the old racers; one of which was a 1916

Don,s Western Star

It was 2 weeks before Don Richardsville could get back to Chelsea OK. for the completion of the Peterson Power Hood Installation.

WE started about 9:30 last Friday morning and and completed in the late afternoon. First time installations are trial and error and the crowded area we had to work with didn't help matters.
Normally an installation takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours when we have the upper and lower mounts designed and ready to go.

This is the first Western Star for us and the first rig to have right side mount. On Pete's kenworth's and Freightliners there is more room on the drivers side but not so on the Western Star.

Click on Power Hood Trick Truck Gallery for pictures of Don's Western Star Installation.
(the wiring in the picture is temporary and will be replaced by a Curly Cord)

Peterbilt goes Green & Green Pairie Grass

Peterbilt Hy-bred

Wow! Class 8 Hy-bred, who would have ever thought.

Wal-Mart has taken delivery on the first class 8 Hy-bred Truck; appropriately having a GREEN paint job.

There are claims of 25% savings; though I haven’t herd what the price tag is and how long it will take to get ROI.

I’m surer a few of the trendy owner operators will buy as soon as more are available.

If the fleets start running these, you can be assured it will pay off, as they wouldn’t buy mud flaps if they didn’t have to.

The other day a friend of mine that helps companies go public told me about a project that he was working on

For a group that is making biofuel from switch grass, saw dust paper and other carbons. Their claim is more fuel for less bucks than corn based biofuel. A couple days later I received the Oct. issue of Field and Stream.

Skimming through lo and behold an article caught my eye; “Gas From The Grass” by Bob Marshall F & S Conservation Editor. This editorial states that ethanol from corn base is not cost effective and does little to lesson greenhouse gases because of several factors.

  • Fuel required to make fertilizer (petroleum based)
  • Fuel required to plow, plant, apply fertilizer, pesticide, herbicide and harvest corn.
  • Cost of fertilizer.( petroleum based)
  • Cost of pesticide. (petroleum based)
  • Cost to taxpayer ($.51 per Gal. subsidy by Fed. Gov. to blend ethanol with gasoline)
  • Cost of water to irrigate (1700 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of ethanol)
  • Cost of expensive farm machinery.
  • Cost of using quality crop land that could be producing food products.

The alternative suggested by the F&S Editor is native grass and other cellulose that could be grown on CRP land (Conservation Reserve Program) and land not suitable for crops.

  • This would not require plowing, planting, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides.
  • Would require less expensive machinery to harvest.
  • Would require less fuel to harvest.
  • Would save the taxpayer by eliminating the $.51 subsidy( would not be needed)
  • Would save the taxpayer by eliminating the CRP subsidy
  • Would be more profitable to the land owner than collecting CRP payments
  • Would reserve quality land for food crops.

Minnesota researchers have discovered that the 1 gallon of fossil fuel it takes to make 1.2 gallons of corn based ethanol will produce 5 gallons of ethanol from native prairie grasses.

There are many other benefits to using native grasses and other cellulose based products not mentioned here.
